Ankara Club Assocıatıon Ankara Cıty Museum

The Ankara Club Association Ankara City Museum was established in 2021. It has a rich collection aimed at preserving, promoting, and passing on the cultural heritage of the capital city Ankara to future generations. The museum reflects Ankara’s cultural diversity through three main exhibition groups. The first section introduces Ankara’s clothing culture and social rituals using eighteen mannequins dressed in traditional costumes and jewelry. The second section features sixteen display cases containing traditional objects and values collected from the city’s outer districts. The third section exhibits fifty special papier-mâché dolls, showcasing the folkloric richness of Ankara and Anatolia. The museum’s collection also includes traditional Ankara rugs, musical instruments, and various ethnographic artifacts. The entire collection was donated by Dr. Metin Özaslan, President of the Ankara Club Association, reflecting his dedication to cultural heritage and his appreciation for the arts.

Mithat Paşa Monument

Located in the south of Ziraat Bank Headquarters, the statue of Mithat Paşa was built by Dr. Hüseyin Anka Özkan in 1966 upon the request of the general directorate of the bank. The statue depicts Grand Vizier Mithat Paşa, who established Ziraat Bank in the year 1863, sitting in an armchair. There are three wheat ears and a wheel over his left and a scale over his right.

Çanakçıkale

It is on a 100-meter-high hill located 2 km to the north of Yıldız Mountain, which is 1.5 km south of Çanakçı village of Polatlı. The hill has a wide viewing angle to Sakarya River Valley and the north of the valley. The view range in the northwest direction is about 30 km. Gordion, 25 km north, is also in the viewing range. Architectural and ceramic remains are at the top of the hill. Two different types of architectural remains were identified, namely Hellenistic and Roman periods. About 15 m below the hill, on the steep southern slope of the castle, ancient stone quarries were identified.

Julianus Column

It is located in the small square between the old Revenue and the Governorship offices in Ulus. The 15-meter-long column, which rises on a square base, was built of circular bricks put on top of each other and has a Byzantine Period Corinthian head at the top. It is predicted that the column was built in 362 B.C. in honour of Emperor Julianus’ visit to Ankara.

Karatepe

Karatepe, 5 km south of Polatlı district center, has a vantage point open in all directions. It was used as a castle between 1400- 1500 though there are no ruins of it. What makes this hill important for people today is that it changed hands seven times in the Battle of Sakarya. With the loss of Duatepe and Kartaltepe on 31 August 1921, Karatepe was occupied by the enemy. The hill, which changed hands many times until 13 September, hosted many battles.

Akköprü

It is the oldest bridge in Ankara, located on the Ankara Stream in Varlık Neighborhood. It was commissioned by Ankara Governor Kızılbey to Architect Bedreddin during the period of Seljuk ruler I. Alaeddin Keykubat in 1222. Built of ashlar basalt stone on the road connecting Western Anatolia to Ankara, the bridge consists of 7 pointed arches. There are stone railings on the top of the bridge and on the sides. There is an inscription on the west side of the bridge and on both sides of the middle gap.

Beynam Atatürk House

This is the house in Beynam village, located in the Balâ district, where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and the members of the Representative Committee stayed overnight on December 26, 1919, the day before their arrival in Ankara. The building is a single-storey structure situated within a garden. On the right side of the corridor, where photographs of Atatürk and the Turkish War of Independence are displayed, there is a room arranged as a reading room. On the left side of the corridor, a hall exhibits some of Atatürk’s personal belongings. The building, faithfully restored to its original form, was opened to visitors in 2004.

Süreyya Özkan Gas Lamp Museum

The Süreyya Özkan Gas Lamp Museum was opened to visitors with an inauguration ceremony held on September 16–17, 2023. As the first kerosene lamp museum in Türkiye, it features a collection of lamps gathered over a period of 30 years by Süreyya Özkan, including pieces from both Türkiye and various continents around the world. Donated to the Municipality of Beypazarı, the collection is exhibited in a 600-squaremeter indoor space located within the Beypazarı Community Center. The museum houses a total of 1,460 kerosene lamps

Sebillürreşad Culture and Art Center

Located on Denizciler Street in the Ulus district, the Sebilürreşad Magazine Museum was established through the restoration of the historic Sus (Sümer) Cinema. It has been revived as a cultural memory site in this area where Mehmed Âkif Ersoy spent time between 1920 and 1923. Granted “private museum” status by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the center holds the distinction of being the world’s first magazine museum. Featuring a unique collection that sheds light on the history of periodical publishing in Türkiye, the museum includes magazine archives, first issues, thematic exhibition areas, and spaces for cultural events. Operating under the umbrella of the Sebilürreşad Culture and Art Center, this exceptional institution bridges the past and the present, offering a distinctive contribution to the world of culture and the arts

Police Museum

The Police Museum, established in the additional service building of the General Directorate of Security in Dikmen, Ankara, holds the distinction of being the first museum of the Turkish Police Organization. Operating on a total area of 1,518 square meters, the museum is equipped with information technologies and, with its living museum concept and scenario-based exhibitions, arrangements, and applications, qualifies as a third-generation museum.

Educational Museum Of Republic's 75th Anniversary

Opened in 1998 by the Ministry of National Education, Educational Museum of Republic’s 75th Anniversary occupies a singlestory building nestled in a large garden next to Atatürk High School. The museum displays a variety of educational tools and equipment. Each year, as part of a planned program, the museum is visited by primary and secondary school students in Ankara, as well as students studying in teaching programs at universities.

Kızılcahamam Roman Bath

The Roman Bath, located near the Büyük Kaplıca, is today accessed through a low-arched entrance and consists of three main sections: a changing room, bathing areas, and pools. Originally composed of seven interconnected sections, four of these were demolished during the construction of the new spa building. The quality of the thermal waters is considered to be equivalent to that of the Büyük Kaplıca.
