Monument of Republic

Built by Heinrich Krippel and located in Ulus Square, the monument was erected in 1927 as a gift to the Turkish nation in memory of the heroes of the War of Independence. There are two soldiers in front of the pedestal: one stands in front of the monument and waves his hand to call his friends to join the battle while the other soldier watches the horizon. On the right side of the pedestal of the statue, there is an engraving that depicts Atatürk and his brothers in arms during the battle of Dumlupınar. On the left side the invader army salutes the Turkish army

Duatepe Monument

Duatepe is the first hill that was captured back from the enemy during the Great Offensive that started on 10 September 1921 and this event determined the end of the War of the Independence. The monument consists of five sections: the connection road, the parking lot, hiking trail, the ceremonial ground and the monument. One of the two flags in the monument symbolizes the flag of the 58th Regiment and the other is the Turkish flag. Names of the 81 martyrs who died in the Duatepe offensive are written on the walls with brass letters. Statues at the monument have symbolic meanings.

Kızlarini Caves

It is estimated that Kızlarini Caves, located in the Ortabayır Stream Valley near the Sarıoba village, 39 kilometres from Polatlı district, was a Byzantine period settlement. Some rooms in the caves melted over time and were destroyed. There is no regular road to the caves. There are Ottoman period tombs and mansions in Sarıoba village.

Yıldız Dağı Trenches

Defense positions can be seen in the form of two lines, one on the western skirts and the summit of the mountain. The places controlling the Kavuncu Bridge on the old Ankara-Eskişehir highway, the passage places on the Sakarya River, are in this area. When you reach the positions from the village of Çanakçı, which is located on the slopes of Yıldız Mountain, you first meet with Roman history and then you can reach the top by visiting the artillery positions and other defence lines of Sakarya Pitched Battle in Tarlabayır.
