Ankara Adnan Ötüken Provincial Public Library

Adnan Ötüken Provincial Public Library was first established on 25 July 1922. After providing services in different buildings, it was moved to its current building in 1983. In 1985, the library’s name was changed to Adnan Ötüken Provincial Public Library in honour of Adnan Ötüken, the founder of the National Library. It was designed and built by the architect Paul Bonatz between 1944- 46. To borrow books, you must become a member. Membership is free; yet some of the books can only be read inside the library. You can return any book you borrow from this library to a different public library in another city.

Art Street

Consisting of 22 restored traditional Ankara houses, Art Street is one of the areas in Hamamönü worth seeing. Its renovation project was carried out collaboratively by Altındağ Municipality and Hacettepe University. The historic Ankara houses on this street host artists practicing handicrafts that are in danger of extinction. The upper floors of the houses are used as art studios; lower floors are for displaying the art works. Women attending handicrafts courses and producing throughout the year present their works to visitors at the Handicrafts Market. At the market, which is open 7 days a week, leather goods, home accessories, decorative items and oil paintings are on sale. There are also live concerts featuring melodies of various cultures and a summer open-air cinema showing Turkish films.

National Library of Türkiye

National Library, whose foundations were laid in 1946 began serving the public in 1950 in the building where currently Adnan Ötüken Provincial Public Library is located. National Library was opened in its current building on 5 August 1983 with a state ceremony. The library works with a closed shelf system and twice a day previously ordered books are taken out of the closed shelves. The library, which serves university students and researchers on a membership basis has the biggest collection of books in Türkiye. In addition to books and magazines on every subject, other published materials including digital publications, maps and newspapers are stored at the National Library in accordance with legal legislation. Cermodern Art Lıbrary

Restoration work started in 2000 in the workshop originally built for locomotive maintenance and was completed in 2009. The workshop was opened in 2010 under the name Ankara Cermodern Arts Centre. The library, located on the ground floor of the centre, has a rich art collection. Alongside over 3,500 books, 38 different of periodicals mainly related to culture and art enrich the library collection. You cannot have membership to the library, but the distinguished collection of the library is open to professional artists, students, and lecturers of fine arts faculties, as well as all to citizens interested in art. Any items from the library collection can only be used in the library.

The Presidential Symphony Orchestra

The Presidential Symphony Orchestra (CSO) Ada Ankara is one of the most prominent symbols reflecting the cultural and artistic identity of the capital. The project was completed under the instructions of the President of the Republic of Türkiye, H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and through the devoted efforts of the Minister of Culture and Tourism, H.E.
