Şeyh Hüsameddin Ankaravi Mosque and Tomb

The mosque, located in a flat archaeological site near Kutluhan and Altınpınar villages, 49 km away from Haymana district centre, is now outside the settlement area. There is a tomb near the mosque where Sheikh Hüsameddin Ankaravi’s tomb is also located. Sheikh Hüsameddin Ankaravi, who was originally from Ankara and one of the Bayrami-Melami sheikhs, is one of the disciples of Hacı Bayram Veli according to Melami sources. The mosque and tomb were built with masonry technique where rubble stone was used as filling between cut stone inside and outside. Sheikh Hüsameddin Ankaravi Mosque and Tomb, built in the middle of the 16th century, has an important place in terms of representing the classical period religious architecture of the Ottoman Empire in Anatolia.

Karacabey Mosque and Tomb

The building is in Samsun Street, Sümer District. Built by Karacabey in the 15th century, the mosque forms a social complex with a tomb, fountain and double hammams. The walls of the mosque, which has the only example of the iwan plan type in Ankara, are laid with stone and brick, and topped with five domes. Its minaret is of glazed brick, and it is an important sample for its tile workmanship.

Akyurt Centre Mosque

Located on Kızık Street in the center of Akyurt district, the Akyurt Central Mosque was constructed in 1919. The building features a rubble stone masonry structural system and a sloping hipped roof covered with Marseille tiles. Designed on a rectangular plan, the mosque includes a women’s gallery on its northern side. Access to the prayer hall is provided through the last congregation area (son cemaat mahalli). The entrance to the prayer hall is through a double-leaf wooden door with stone jambs and a depressed arch, distinguished by a projecting keystone. The last congregation area is entered through three arched openings supported by four columns. The exterior load-bearing walls of the structure are built of finely cut stone masonry. The mosque has a single minaret. The ceiling is decorated with an eight-pointed star motif formed by wooden slats radiating outward from the center. The mihrab niche has a semi-circular profile and is embellished with plaster ornamentation. Preserved through landscaping and restoration works carried out by the Akyurt Municipality, the building has survived to the present day and is evaluated as a registered historical monument.

Oruç Gazi Tomb

It is located right next to Kırmızı Ebe Tomb in Taşlıca village of Kızılcahamam. In the tomb, besides that of Oruç Gazi, there are three more graves believed to belong to his family. The tomb, which has been in ruins for years, was restored in the classical Seljuk style in 2001.

Fatma Bacı Mosque and Tomb

There is a tomb and a mosque built in the name of Fatma Bacı in the old Bacı village settlement on the foothill of Çile Mountain, 27 km from Sincan town centre, 9 km from the Ankara-Eskişehir highway. Fatma Bacı is the daughter of Seyyid Nureddin and she is a saint who died in 1310. Bacı village, which was once a town centre, is now abandoned and most of the buildings have been harmed. There are Ottoman period fountains in the settlement.

Şereflikoçhisar Alaaddin Mosque

The mosque, which is located in Sarıkaya Neighborhood in Şereflikoçhisar district centre, is one of the mosques with a square plan and single dome. The main walls of the mosque are of cut stone. The last congregation place in the north has three domes. Its minaret rises with a cylindrical stone body starting from the upper border of the last congregation hall’s wall. It is understood from the inscription on the entrance door that it was repaired in 1863. The mosque which dated to the 13th century, was restored in 2003.
