Acısu Stream And Travertınes

Located approximately 4 km to the northeast of Kızılcahamam town center, the Acısu Stream Valley is home to natural mineral water sources. The temperature of the water at its source ranges between 31 and 34 degrees Celsius. In the vicinity of the mineral water source, travertine formations have developed as a result of calcium carbonate deposition, creating a unique natural landscape. The area is visited for day trips, particularly for nature walks and photo safaris. Dense forest cover is especially observed in the area between Aksak and Çukurca.

Şahinler Natural Park

Şahinler National Park is 107 km. away from Ankara city centre and 30 km. from Kızılcahamam district. In the national park which also includes forested areas, there are evergreen Scots pine trees in summer and winter and non-evergreen beech, oak and juniper forests in winter. The highest priority species of both Şahinler Natural Park and the invertebrate fauna of the region are butterflies. The most common butterfly in the region is Çokgözlü Anadolu Çillisi. Şahinler Natural Park area is home to Turkey’s second largest known black vulture population (7- 10 pairs). The park has the potential to meet the recreational needs of the visitors such as trekking, nature walks, mountain climbing, photographing, examining insects and animals and having a picnic.

Çubuk Karagöl Natural Park

Çubuk Karagöl Natural Park is 68 km away from Ankara city centre and 28 km away from Çubuk district. Although the nature park is small in terms of area, it has a very rich habitat and species diversity due to the microclimate feature of the lake. Amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals living around the lake were studied using standard methods. It is a suitable area for picnics, trekking, mountain climbing, flora and fauna viewing, landscape viewing and angling.

Güzelcekale

It is 1 km away from and approximately 160 m above Güzelce village of Haymana. The hill dominates the north and especially the plain to the east. To the north, lies a valley extending westward. Remains of a bazaar, houses, rock settlements and rock cemetery were found around the castle. Based on the ceramic remains, the castle is believed to be a Roman Period Medieval Castle. There are cisterns inside the castle.

Kartaltepe Natural Park

Karlıtepe recreation area located in Devletdoruğu area in the district of Kızılcahamam of Ankara, has a field size of 93 hectares. It is a state forest registered officially as a natural park in 2011. There isn’t any facility in the area but there are two ponds. The area is suitable for nature walks and photosafari.

Çavuşlu Ponds

Located near Çavuşlu Village at Çankaya district, Çavuşlu Ponds are about 3 km away from Ankara-Bâlâ highway. The reed-covered ponds are also the resting area of migratory birds such as flamingo, cormorant and heron.

Ancıent Cıty Of Mnızos

The ancient city is in Kötü Hamam district of Güneyce neighbourhood in the town of Güdül. It is predicted that the ruins that are found in excavations conducted by Museum of Anatolian Civilizations in an area of 400 square meters in the region, belong to the lost ancient city of Mnizos. It is also predicted that the ruins, which date back to the late Antique Period, belong to a large thermal complex in the area.

Üçbaş Pond

It is approximately 5 kilometres away from Üçbaş village. The pond can be reached from Üçbaş village, located near Ankara-Bolu Highway. The pond is at the beginning of the Mera Stream feeding Kurtboğazı Dam. It is suitable for angling. Also, there is Abdülcemil Tomb in Üçbaş village.

Güzelyurt Recreatıon Spot

The recreation spot located near Güzelyurt village, 31 kilometres away from downtown Keçiören, is a pine copse. This natural area, where there are no social facilities, is suitable for trekking, photosafari and picnic without barbecue.

Abacı Fairy Chimneys

There are natural mineral water springs in Acısu Stream Valley, that is located about 4 km away to the northeast of Kızılcahamam district centre. The temperature of the water at its source is 31-34 centigrade degrees. This bath is used in the treatment of skin diseases. The travertines formed as a result of the precipitation of calcium carbonate near the mineral water source in Acısu Stream Valley have created a unique landscape. Daily tours are organized in the region for nature walks and photosafari. Thick forests are observed especially between Aksak and Çukurca.

Antıque Cıty Of Parnassos

A rescue excavation was carried out in 2010 by the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations in the antique city of Parnasos, located on the border of Değirmenyolu village. Inscription on the ground mosaic of the naos of a church belonging to the early Byzantine Era, which was found as a result of excavations, reveals that it was constructed between 469-470 Roman-Byzantine coins were found in the church, which was built on the pilgrimage route of Christianity, stretching from Anatolia to Jerusalem. The city of Parnassos is an important city for the ancient world, as it is an important stop on the pilgrimage route as mentioned above and because of it is an episcopal centre. As far as it is learned from the inscription, the person named Longinus from Parnassos is responsible for the financial affairs of the church. This inscription, which is, for the time being, the first inscription on the history of Parnassos, gives us important information about the history of the city. The antique city of Parnassos had not been explored archaeologically before. The church was built during the reign of the Byzantine Emperor Leon I (457-474).

Çubuk 2 Dam

Çubuk 2 dam, which is used to meet the water needs of Ankara and Çubuk district, is approximately 6 km away from Çubuk district. It is located in the north. The dam is 61 meters higher than the creek bed. The lake volume at normal water level is 24.60 square hectometers. The total lake area is 1.2 square kilometres. Mendek, Kışla, Bağırcan Çayır and Hacıkadın streams feed the dam lake. Çubuk 2 Dam is also used as a recreation and picnic area. The entrance of the dam and the surrounding of the lake were afforested and offered to the people of the district and Ankara. Çubuk 2 Dam is a richness with the security and maintenance personnel and natural beauty of Çubuk district for people who are tired of city life and who flood the facility during the week or the weekends.
