About
Salt Lake and its surroundings, located at the Kaman road junction of the Ankara- Şereflikoçhisar Highway, is visited by hundreds of bird species for sheltering, wintering and incubation. The region draws attention for the endemic plants. There are social facilities and a free entrance to Salt Lake at Kaman crossroad. Salt Lake is one of the richest basins of Turkey because of the presence of birds living in the surrounding small lakes and marshes. This region is on the migration route of wild birds. Moreover, the absence of an important wetland in the middle of the steppe other than the lake and its surroundings directs migratory birds to Salt Lake. Due to its high salt content, the lake which does not freeze in winter, is also a good shelter for migratory birds. It is also a gene bank for species resistant to salt and drought. Salt Lake which meets 60% of the salt need of Turkey, is also suitable for birdwatching and photosafari.
