Mahkemeağcin Village, located 18 km from the district center of Kızılcahamam along the Çeltikçi road, is an ancient settlement area. The caves were used as churches, dwellings, storage spaces, and wine workshops. The earliest inhabitants of the settlement are considered to have been among the first Christian communities. It is known that during the early periods of Christianity, the Roman authorities conducted activities against the religion and its followers. Christians fleeing from Roman soldiers are believed to have established such settlements in the region. The softness of the rock facilitated the formation of these rock-cut structures. Within the settlement, niches and decorative motifs can be observed in the church. In front of three caves located in the Kadınpınarı area, there is a flat area of approximately 10 decares. This open space, together with the surrounding structures, suggests that the area functioned as a religious complex.
