About
Natural Park of Sorgun Pond, located within the borders of Sorgun town of Güdül District in Ankara, has a size of approximately 54 hectares. The larch forest in the natural park spreads in the middle, south and northeast parts of the area. The park is located in the region where the forest texture starts to manifest itself owing to the increase in rainfall, in the sporadic mountains rising on the plateau around Ankara and the mountainous area in the north. The forests, seen as islets in the middle of the steppe that is prevalent in these regions, are generally the groves left over from destruction. The predominant tree species in such forests are larch, juniper and sporadically oak. Wild animals such as wolf, fox, jackal, badger, marten and weasel are among mammals that play a very active role in ensuring the ecological balance in wildlife in the area.
