Şahinler National Park is 107 km. away from Ankara city centre and 30 km. from Kızılcahamam district. In the national park which also includes forested areas, there are evergreen Scots pine trees in summer and winter and non-evergreen beech, oak and juniper forests in winter. The highest priority species of both Şahinler Natural Park and the invertebrate fauna of the region are butterflies. The most common butterfly in the region is Çokgözlü Anadolu Çillisi. Şahinler Natural Park area is home to Turkey’s second largest known black vulture population (7- 10 pairs). The park has the potential to meet the recreational needs of the visitors such as trekking, nature walks, mountain climbing, photographing, examining insects and animals and having a picnic.
