National Library, whose foundations were laid in 1946 began serving the public in 1950 in the building where currently Adnan Ötüken Provincial Public Library is located. National Library was opened in its current building on 5 August 1983 with a state ceremony. The library works with a closed shelf system and twice a day previously ordered books are taken out of the closed shelves. The library, which serves university students and researchers on a membership basis has the biggest collection of books in Türkiye. In addition to books and magazines on every subject, other published materials including digital publications, maps and newspapers are stored at the National Library in accordance with legal legislation.
