"Pitched Battle of Sakarya, one of the
most important turning points of the War of
Independence, was fought in the borders of
Polatlı and Haymana. The 13,850-hectare
site, the scene of the war, was declared a national
park in 2015. Historical and National
Park of Sakarya Pitched Battle consists of 14
sections and covers a battle ground of 100
km. In an effort to determine where Sakarya
Pitched Battle took place, the traces of the
war that have come down to today such
as trenches, cemeteries of the martyrs, and
buildings used in the battle were ascertained.
Locations of great significance for the War
of Independence, such as Mangal Mountain,
Yıldız Mountain, Türbetepe, Duatepe, Kartaltepe,
Karatepe, and Sarıçaltepe are in the
boundaries of the National Park."
